The Extended Download Service requires an account, because we have to keep track of the service period and downloads of the product for which you purchased the service.  The only way to do that is to know who you are, and that requires an account. 

We have a free Premium Account available, so there is no reason not to get an account if you would like this service attached to one of your downloadable games.
